They’ve done it again! Following their success at last years QUT Student Film Competition in which the St Columban’s Senior team were awarded second place for their documentary entitled, ‘One Little Fish’, the filmmaking skills of the St Columban’s College Year 11 team have been recognised through their acceptance of the People’s Choice Award at this years competition.
Following a one day intensive workshop at the QUT Caboolture Campus, the group of 8 students had two weeks to produce a 3-5 minute drama on the theme of ‘Regeneration’. The group, consisting of Year 11 students; David Bacatan, Lachlan Donges, Erick Dowers, Georgia Kalman, Joshua McQuade, Cooper Morgenstern, Jack Wilson and Dharma Wood created a 5-minute drama entitled, ‘Reflections’, a drama/thriller exploring the world of cloning and delusional behaviour. Their Peoples Choice Award is a testament to not only their film production and editing skills, but also their ability to work as a team under pressure.
‘It was a great experience, from the one day workshop to the intensity of the two week production,’ said Media Teacher, Steve Ruddy. ‘The students have learnt so much from this process, and are very keen to continue to develop their skills.’
‘They can’t wait for another competition, the energy and thrill of the competition is fantastic.’ The St Columban’s College Community is very proud of their efforts, and the students are looking forward to their next production challenge.
