Saturday was a night of celebration which saw the presentation of the annual Moreton Bay Regional Council Australia Day Awards. With only 7 categories of awards, St Columban’s College was in the limelight with 4 nominees (2 current year 11 students and 2 past students) and 3 Awards winners. This shows the outstanding determination and community mindedness of the students within in the College Community.
With a very busy year in the pool, in particular her Bronze medal performance in Glasgow, Lakeisha Patterson was awarded the Young Sportsperson of the Year award from a hotly contested pool of individuals. This was another great achievement recognizing her determination and focus.
Having raised over $80,000 and with a highly commendable goal of $100,000 and a Environmental Education Centre at Bribie Island, Tegan Lather was a very worthy winner of the Environmental Achievement Award. She has tirelessly fundraised for Wildlife Conservation and has been instrumental in helping clean up Bribie Island.
Past Student, Hannah Grundy was the recipient of the Young Citizen of the Year award for her continued involvement over the last few years in her fundraising and event planning for the Leukaemia foundation. Past Student Jody Kenny (nee Schultz) was also nominated for the Sportsperson of the year awards for her outstanding performances in the Australian Hockey Team.
We congratulate these members of St Columban’s on their achievements and look forward to seeing what the future brings in achieving their aspirations.
